Luís Barros was born and raised in Portugal. In 2014, he began his studies in Filmmaking at Porto University School of Arts with a scholarship from the Lapa do Lobo Foundation. In 2016, he studied Film and TV directing as an exchange student at the National Academy for Theatre and Film Arts in Sofia, Bulgaria. After being granted a scholarship from the Amancio Ortega Foundation, he graduated from the MPXA - Master's in Audiovisual Executive Production, one of Spain’s top film programs. He has continued his education by taking online courses in Philosophy and Critical Thinking from the University of Queensland and Transmedia Storytelling from the University of New South Wales.

In 2017, he worked on the production of FEST Training Ground and was a member of the selecting committee of the FEST Pitching Forum. After graduating, he interned as a production assistant at Belle Films in the development and pre-production of film and television projects, attending the Industry Club at the 66th San Sebastián Film Festival. He also took part in the development of TV series at Matriuska Producciones in Spain; and edited the documentary feature 'Escola do Rock', directed by Amadeu Pena da Silva.

In audiovisual and journalism, Luís Barros has worked as a production assistant in the multimedia services of the European Parliament in Brussels and as a journalist for RTP - Radio and Television of Portugal. He has written multiple articles for the Portuguese online film magazine Cinema7arte. Recently, he attended the 5th BRIFF in Brussels and the 74th and 75th Festival de Cannes.
