Luís Barros was born and raised in Portugal. In 2014, he began studying Filmmaking at Porto University School of Arts and later graduated from the MPXA - Master's in Audiovisual Executive Production, one of Spain’s top film programs. He has worked in film, television, and journalism, including roles at Belle Films and Matriuska Producciones in Spain. He was part of the multimedia services team at the European Parliament in Brussels, as well as a journalist for RTP - Radio and Television of Portugal. Additionally, he has worked in creative agencies in Lisbon as a filmmaker and photographer, among other roles.

Currently, Luís is a research scholar at the School of Communication and Media Studies in Lisbon. In 2024, he was a finalist in CNN Portugal’s New Talents in Audiovisual poll and later served as a judge for the short film section of the first Impacto Festival. He has attended multiple film festivals, including Festival de Cannes and San Sebastián.

He occasionally writes for Cinema Sétima Arte, a Portuguese online film magazine, and in 2024, he co-authored a published book celebrating the magazine’s 15th anniversary, writing about the role of politics in the work of Nanni Moretti.

After studying Creative Writing at Wesleyan University, he has been developing short films and short fiction stories, further exploring his passion for storytelling.
